You're reading: Positions of Ukrainian troops come under fire 14 times in 24 hours

Gunfire at positions of the Ukrainian forces near the village of Marynivka in the Shakhtarsk district of the Donetsk region continued overnight into Wednesday, July 16, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement posted on its Web site.

According to the Defense Ministry, gunfire was held from the
direction of the state border with Russia from Grad multiple artillery
launch system, mortar launchers and self-propelled howitzers, and
Ukrainian troops held response fire.

On July 15, militants fired from the Grad system at Ukrainian
subdivisions and crossing near the village of Dmytrivka of the
Shakhtarsk district, the statement said.

At midnight Luhansk airport, which is controlled by Ukrainian
servicemen, came under reactive artillery fire twice, the Defense
Ministry said.

On July 15 positions of Ukrainian subdivisions near the village of
Provallia in the Sverdlovsk district of the Luhansk region came under
fire after lunch and Ukrainian positions near the village of Valuiske in
the Stanytsia-Luhanska district of the Luhansk region came under mortar
attack.

In the past 24 hours roadblocks and positions of the Ukrainian Armed
Forces’ subdivisions came under fire 14 times, the Defense Ministry
said.
