You're reading: Preliminary schedule of the Russian president’s visit to Kyiv on May 17-18

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantyn Hryshchenko is scheduled to meet Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev at Boryspol airport around noon on Monday, May 17.

The Russian president and his entourage will travel to Kyiv’s Park Slavy (Glory Park) to lay flowers at the monument commemorating those who died in World War II.

It is not known whether Medvedev will also visit the Great Famine of 1932-1933 monument adjacent to Park Slavy.

Medvedev is then scheduled to meet his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych at the Presidential Administration on Bankova Street. An agreement-signing ceremony will be held following their meeting.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuev, the presidents will sign five agreements on border demarcation, nuclear cooperation, aircraft development and other matters. The two presidents will then hold a joint press conference.

Medvedev will next have lunch at Yanukovych’s official residence at Maryinskiy Park adjoining the parliament building. Where he will spend the night is unknown.

Medvedev on May 18 is scheduled to visit the "Battle for Kyiv in 1943 Museum" and meet with Ukrainian World War II veterans. The museum is located adjacent to Yanukovych’s unofficial residence in Mezhhyre in Kyiv Oblast’s Vyshhorod district.

After lunch, the Russian president is scheduled to lecture students at Kyiv’s National State Taras Shevchenko University. He will take part in a meeting organized by Ukrainian and Russian business leaders before leaving the capital.
