Ukraine's President Victor Yanukovych has met with head of US delegation and U.S. National Security Advisor General James Jones, Deputy Head of the presidential administration Hanna Herman has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych during the meeting raised the issue of assistance to Ukraine regarding international auditing, and the general confirmed the need of such an audit for Ukraine," she said.

According to Herman, Jones said he had met with U.S. President Barack Obama before his departure to Ukraine.

"President Obama asked me to give his personal congratulations to Yanukovych and stressed that he highly appreciates the importance of strategic partnership with Ukraine and appreciates the reality of such a partnership," the deputy head of the presidential administration said.

Herman also said that a possible visit of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Ukraine in the next three months was also discussed during the meeting with the head of the U.S. delegation.
