You're reading: PrivatBank branch bombed in Odesa; nobody hurt

An explosion of unknown origin ripped about the front of a bank in Odesa about 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 6. There were no reported injuries. It was the second bombing of the PrivatBank branch at 13 Marshall Zhukov St. since last May, when a smaller Molotov cocktail also damaged the building, said men from Odessa’s Municipal Guard.

“We talked to the nearby citizens and people said they heard the bang but they know nothing more about it,” one guard said.

Student Maxim Zahariash, 18, who lives in an apartment block 200 meters away, said he was awake at the time and also heard the explosion. His building, across the street, was not damaged.

By noon on Feb. 6, workers were busy cleaning up the debris – bits of glass, plastic and steel lay strewn about, behind the police tape which kept onlookers out.
