Pro-European Union demonstrators continue to build barricades in Independence Square in the center of  Kyiv.

More barricades have recently appeared on Khreschatyk Street between
the Central Department Store and the opposite side of the street, an
Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

Barricades also span the width of the street, including the pedestrian area.

The construction of barricades has already been completed on European Square and Instytutska Street.

The barricades are made of snow, sacks, car tires, fence boards, as well as iron rods and iron nets.

Independence Square’s section between the Main Post Office and the
corner of the House of Trade Unions and the Independence column is
packed with protesters. Many demonstrators are standing near barricades
on Instytutska Street.

The area around the presidential administration offices on Bankova
Street has been sealed off by shield-wielding police. The street is also
blocked by police buses.

Several dozen protesters can be seen near the cordon put up by law enforcement services on Bankova Street.

Bankova Street has not been cleared of snow as properly as Khreschatyk, the Interfax-Ukraine correspondent said.

Sadova Street is blocked by buses and trucks, including a fireworks
machine owned by the city’s emergency service, at its intersection with
Instytutska Street.

Shovkovychna Street is blocked by Kamaz trucks and buses at its
intersection with Instytutska Street in the direction of the
parliamentary building.

No protesters can be seen outside the government and parliamentary
headquarters. No serious public order offences were registered last
night, a Ukrainian Interior Ministry spokesman said.

Up to 5,000 people are currently present in Independence Square, and
another 200 can be seen in Mariyinsky Park, which is located near the
parliamentary building, the Interior Ministry said.
