You're reading: Protest near Ukrainian Defense Ministry headquarters in Kyiv growing

A protest rally in support for Ukrainian servicemen involved in the anti-terrorist operation in the eastern part of the country in front of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry headquarters in Kyiv is continuing.

An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported from Povitroflotsky Avenue, where the Defense Ministry building is located, that the number of the protesters has grown in the afternoon.

The protesters are demanding that Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei resign and that efficient aid be provided to Ukrainian troops near Ilovaisk.

Several people attempted to shove aside several servicemen guarding the entrance to the building, while other activists called on them not to discredit the protest and not to cause excessive tension.

The activists are determined to continue the protest until their demands are met.
