A clash has emerged between officers of the Berkut special police unit and protesters against privatization of Hostynny Dvir (Hospitality Court, a historic building in Kyiv), when the protesters made an attempt to enter Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) on Thursday.

The press service of the Batkivschyna United Opposition said on Thursday that Berkut officers lined up on the stairs of the KCSA building and did not allow the protesters to enter it. The doors of the building were blocked from inside.

Batkivschyna MPs and deputies of Kyiv City Council tried to lead the citizens inside in order to “involve them in the consideration of the issue on privatization of Hostynny Dvir.”

“Clashes emerged during the attempt to enter the building. Berkut officers stroke several activists down on the ground and nearly trampled them by feet,” reads the political force’s statement.

On December 20, Kyiv City Council is to consider land issues at a plenary sitting.
