An anti-Maidan rally in Donetsk on Saturday resulted in the Ukrainian flag on the regional administration headquarters being replaced by a Russian tricolor and the commander of the "Donbass People's Militia," Pavlo Hubarev, being elected regional governor.

An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported from the scene that the square in front of the administration building was filled with people, many of whom were holding Russian flags.

Hubarev called for a tent camp to be put up on the square.
