Moscow - The administration of the Donetsk People's Republic has promised to nationalize those enterprises that will refuse to pay taxes to the republic's budget.

“We are not halting the enterprises. The enterprises are working. Those that will refuse to pay taxes to the republic’s budget will be nationalized,” Denis Pushilin, chairman of the presidium of the Supreme Council of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, said on Rossiya 24 television on Friday, June 13.

Pushilin said a majority of the republic’s enterprises are still paying taxes to the Ukrainian budget.

“The taxes are still being paid to Kyiv. Some social payments are coming from Kyiv, but they are twice as lower as we are paying. We have not stopped this practice yet because we have come to build, not to destroy things,” Pushilin said.

The republic will come up with its own tax regulations in the nearest future, he said. “We will simplify them and make them [taxes] more socially just. We will do everything right, we will help small and mid-sized businesses,” he said.
