St. Petersburg - Russian President Vladimir Putin argued on Saturday that it is unlikely that the current strained relations between Russia and the West over the Ukraine crisis herald a new cold war.

“I wouldn’t like to think that it’s the start of a new cold war. No one needs it, and I don’t think it’s going to happen,” Putin said at a meeting in St. Petersburg with the heads of principal global news agencies.
