 Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks by telephone on Tuesday with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

 “Putin informed Singh about the crisis in Ukraine and about the
implementation of the choice made by the Crimea’s multiethnic population
in a referendum on March 16,” the Kremlin press service reported.

A large part of the talks was devoted to trade and economic
cooperation and bilateral ties in other areas. “Singh expressed interest
in promoting diversified interaction in the bilateral and multilateral
formats, including along the lines of the Customs Union and the Common
Economic Space,” the press service said.

The Russian and Indian leaders expressed the determination to
strengthen the privileged strategic partnership between the two
countries, the Kremlin press service said.
