You're reading: Pyatt accuses Russia of escalation of conflict in eastern Ukraine

The U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt told a briefing in Kyiv that Washington is confident that the Malaysian plane that crashed in Ukraine was shot down by a missile fired from the territory controlled by the rebels.

Pyatt also accused Russia of fuelling the tensions and promoting the
escalation of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, instead of helping
resolve it.

The ambassador said artillery shots against Ukraine fired from the
territory of Russia are being registered and military equipment
continues to cross the border and there is even information that heavier
missile weapons may have been brought into Ukraine.
