Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament) has raised the legal age for marriage for women to eighteen.

Two hundred and fifty-nine MPs of the 417 accredited for voting supported a bill of amendments to the Family Code of Ukraine on Thursday.

According to the law, the legal age of marriage for men and women will start from eighteen.

Earlier, Ukrainian law allowed women to marry at seventeen and men at eighteen.
