The Verkhovna Rada has approved Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's decision to sending Ukrainian peacekeepers from Liberia to Ivory Coast.

A total of 263 MPs out of the 267 registered in parliament’s session hall on Friday voted for a law approving the president’s decision to send peacekeeping troops for Ukraine’s participation in cross-border operations as part of inter-mission cooperation between the UN mission in Liberia and the United Nations Operation in Ivory Coast.

Under the law, Ukraine will send up to 100 peacekeepers from Liberia to Ivory Coast.

The activity of the peacekeeping contingent in Ivory Coast will be funded from Ukraine’s state budget, with the further recovery of these costs from the budget of the United Nations.
