The Verkhovna Rada is intending to cancel certain restrictions put on the economic activity in areas of guaranteed voluntary resettlement and severe radio-ecological control.

Three hundred and forty two MPs voted for the introduction of amendments to the Ukrainian law "On the legal regime of the territory polluted by radioactive elements from the Chornobyl catastrophe."

In particular, MPs are to ban the building of health resort complexes and treatment establishments on the areas of severe radio-ecological control without agreement of a specially commissioned central body of executive power responsible for the liquidation of the consequences of Chornobyl catastrophe, and without accessible radiation conditions for living and work.

Moreover, it is proposed to prohibit the building of the new enterprises that may cause harm to people’s health and environment.
