The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has voted to hold a closed plenary session on Thursday, Sept. 4, to discuss issues related to the national defense.

The decision was supported by 252 parliamentarians on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

“The chiefs of the security agencies, the Cabinet of Ministers leadership, and the economy and energy blocs [government ministers dealing with economy and energy matters]” will be invited, Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov said.

“Holding a closed plenary session on Thursday,” Turchynov said.

“[We] will speak very seriously, openly, not on camera and not for PR, about the unsafe situation related to our country’s defense and to the development of urgent and primary issues,” Turchynov said.
