The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has submitted a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada on the ratification of the agreement between the government of Lithuania, the government of Poland and the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers on the creation of a joint military unit.

The protocol on the creation of a Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade was signed in September 2014.

The main purpose of the creation of this unit is to fulfill tasks laid out by the United Nations. The brigade is expected to begin full-fledged functioning in the first half of 2015.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said a group of Ukrainian troops will likely be sent to the base of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade in Lublin, Poland, by the second quarter of 2015. He said the number of Ukrainian troops in the unit will be determined by a working group and rotation will take place continually.
