You're reading: Real wages in Ukraine in December 8.6% up, statistics service reports

Real wages in Ukraine in December 2012 grew by 8.6% compared to November 2012, and grew by 11.1% compared to December 2011, the State Statistics Service has said. 

According to the service, the highest growth in real wages in December 2012 compared to December 2011 was registered in the following regions: Mykolaiv (17.6%), Ternopil (17.1%), Chernivtsi (14.9%), Khmelnytsky (14.8%), Chernihiv (14.5%), Volyn (14.1%), Vinnytsia (13.8%), Kirovohrad (11.7%), Poltava (11.6%), Sumy (11.5%), Dnipropetrovsk (11.1%), and Odesa (10.5%).

Real wages in the city of Kyiv in December were 9.6% up compared to the same period last year, in Sevastopol 21.9% up, and in Crimea 13.6% up.

As the State Statistics Service said, the average salary of full-time employees in Ukraine in December 2012 increased by 9% from November 2012 and grew by 10.6% from December 2011, to Hr 3,377.

The highest wages in December 2012 were recorded in Kyiv (Hr 5,368) and the lowest ones were in Ternopil region (Hr 2,466).

An increase in wages in December 2012 compared to the same month in 2011 was registered in the following branches of economy: public utilities and personal services (25.9%), health care (22.3%), operations with real estate (17%), education (14.7%), the hospitality sector (13.8%), public administration (9.2%), fishing (12.9%), trade, repairs to motor vehicles, household goods and personal items (8.6%), in the financial sector (8.4%), the industrial sector (7.5%), and agriculture (7.3%).

As the State Statistics Service said, the average salary of Ukrainians in 2012 was Hr 3,025.
