You're reading: Real wages in Ukraine in October rise by 1.8%, statistics service reports

Real wages in Ukraine in October 2012 rose by 1.8% compared to September 2012, and by 14.1% compared to October 2011, the State Statistics Service said on Monday. 

According to the service, the highest growth in real wages in October 2012 compared to October 2011 was registered in the following regions: Chernihiv (19.2%), Volyn (18.9%), Zhytomyr (18.6%), Vinnytsia (17.5%), Ternopil (17.4%), and Chernivtsi (17.2%).

Real wages in the city of Kyiv in October were 11.9% up compared to the same period last year, in Sevastopol 14.1% up, and in Crimea 16.3% up.

As the State Statistics Service said, the average salary of full-time employees in Ukraine in October 2012 increased by 1.5% from September 2012 and by 13.9% from October 2011, to Hr 3,110.

The highest wages in October 2012 were recorded in Kyiv (Hr 4,688) and the lowest ones were in Ternopil region (Hr 2,266).

An increase in wages in October 2012 compared to the same month in 2011 was registered in the following branches of economy: public utilities and personal services (25.4%), health care (21.2%), education (21.1%), the hospitality sector (16.1%), public administration (14.8%), trade, repairs to motor vehicles, household goods and personal items (12.2%), forestry (12.1%), in transport and communications (11.4%), the industrial sector (11.3%), agriculture (9.7%), in the financial sector (9.4%), and construction (8.8%).

As the State Statistics Service said, the average salary of Ukrainians in January-October 2012 was Hr 2,988.
