You're reading: Regions Party promises to amend pension reform provisions if necessary

Mistakes that might be discovered in the process of the implementation of pension reform in Ukraine will be corrected by amendments to respective laws, the leader of the Regions Party's parliamentary faction, Oleksandr Yefremov, has said.

"If there are any mistakes in this legislation, and this could have happened because we dealt with a [comprehensive] document, we will return to this document and eliminate these mistakes… We will not allow this document to worsen the situation," he said during a briefing on July 8, while commenting on the adoption of pension reform by the Verkhovna Rada.

Yefremov said deputies "significantly improved the bill" while working on it.

According to him, the adopted version of the law considerably differs from the first draft, and is much better that the second version submitted by the government.

The politician said that introduction of a norm on the retirement of women was postponed for five years. According to him, if a woman wants to work after retirement, an additional sum would be added to the pension, as a result of which she would have the opportunity to earn a second pension, which means that she would receive a pension 87% higher.

Yefremov added that the law stipulates that women who do not work until the age of 50 years old would be considered retirees.
