You're reading: Reinforcements arrive after five Ukrainian border guards injured at Marynivka checkpoint

 A fight between Ukrainian border guards and unlawful armed groups near the Marynivka checkpoint (Donetsk region) continues.

Five border guards have been injured and are being attended to. The border guards have received reinforcements.

“By 8 pm the border guards fighting at the Marynivka checkpoint have received ground support from a joint squadron from the Ukrainian Border Guards Service and Armed Forces. The standoff continues,” the Ukrainian Border Guard Service said in a statement.

Five border guards have been injured and received medical aid, the statement said.

The clashes near the checkpoint began on Thursday afternoon.

One of the militant’s Kamaz vehicles with a large-caliber machinegun was destroyed during the fight, the border authority said.

According to the border authority, militants are using armored personnel carriers and four Kamaz vehicles carrying large-caliber machineguns. Also, three minibuses carrying armed men and four cars have arrived there.
