You're reading: Reports of Depardieu’s visit to Kyiv unconfirmed

The reports about the visit of French actor Gerard Depardieu, who has been recently granted Russian citizenship by President Vladimir Putin, to Kyiv have not been confirmed.

The media earlier reported that Depardieu was expected to attend the French Phoenix circus show and a party for Credit Agricole Bank, in whose advertising campaign the actor takes part. The reports also said he would visit a winery in Kherson region on his way to Crimea.

However, the Sports Palace, where Phoenix circus will stage its show told Interfax-Ukraine that they were unaware about the visit by Depardieu. “Usually, the organizers inform us about such things, but so far they haven’t reported anything. We know nothing about it,” the agency learned at the Sports Palace.

Credit Agricole Bank refuted the reports that the French actor was to visit their staff party. “We refute any reports that Depardieu has come to Kyiv, where he is to participate in the company party,” the bank said.

The Russian Embassy in Ukraine said they did not have any information on whereabouts of Depardieu, who is now a citizen of Russia.
