Dnipropetrovsk, May 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Dnipropetrovsk City Council has approved the city's budget for 2010, which is projected at Hr 2.182 billion, including Hr 36.9 million for city development.

According to Dnipropetrovsk Mayor Ivan Kulichenko, the main advantage of the budget for 2010 is the fact that Dnipropetrovsk reduced contributions to the state treasury to Hr 117 million [Hr 240 million in 2009].

"We also received Hr 30 million from the regional council for roads and Hr 18.8 million to tackle ecological problems," Kulichenko said.

The main sources of funds for the budget will be revenues from incomes of private entities, projected at Hr 1.7 billion, and payments for land projected at Hr 272.1 million.

The mayor determined three priority directions of social and economic development of Dnipropetrovsk for 2010.

The first priority is road development. A total of Hr 176 million will be allocated for the reconstruction and major repairs of roads, including Hr 30 million from the regional budget, Hr 86 million from the city budget and Hr 60 million will be received via crediting.

The second priority is ecology. A total of Hr 7 million of the city budget and Hr 18 million of the regional budget are foreseen to resolve ecological problems.

The third priory is city electric transport. A total of Hr 23 million will be allocated from the city budget to maintain the city subway.

The budget was unanimously supported by all deputies present in the hall.
