All procedural matters relating to the handover of Ukrainian soldiers to the Ukrainian Consulate General in the Rostov region have been settled, and the regional authorities are hoping to get compensated for the medical treatment provided to the Ukrainian border guards and National Guard servicemen.

“There is no need for us to hamper the repatriation of the Ukrainian
soldiers. Moreover, this is in our interests because daily stays, meals
and medical treatment of the injured fighters cost decent sums of money
to the regional treasury. We are very hopeful that the Ukrainians will
be able to compensate the Rostov regional government the financial
expenditure that the regional treasury incurred for the medical
treatment and complicated surgeries provided for the Ukrainian
soldiers,” deputy governor of the Rostov region Vadim Artyomov said,
according to the spokesperson for the regional government on July 22.

A military transport aircraft is expected in Rostov-on-Don this
evening to collect 18 injured Ukrainian soldiers and one dead, the
statement said. Four severely injured Ukrainian border guards are
non-transportable and will continue being treated at local hospitals.

Earlier two injured Ukrainian soldiers and one dead were handed over
to the Ukrainians at the Veselo-Voznesenka checkpoint in the
Matveyevo-Kurgansky district of the Rostov region, the spokesperson
said.
