Moscow - Russia and the United States have eliminated a whole class of ballistic missiles.

“On 9/7/2012, the US and RF together completed the elimination of an entire class of Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile,” a posting on the web log of the U.S. embassy in Moscow says.

The embassy noted that RSM-52 missiles (78 SS-N-20 according to the NATO classification) carrying nuclear warheads with a capacity of up to 100 kilotons.

“This 12-year joint project destroyed 78 SS-N-20 missiles,” the posting says.
