KRASNOYARSK - Russia and the EU are worried about gas transit if shipments to Ukraine stop, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told Interfax.

“This likelihood exists, certainly,” he said.

“This possibility was discussed back in the summer. We met specially to agree on getting rid of these transit risks. Really, given that Ukraine is not in fact carrying out our Brussels agreements on paying for gas and shipping using the prepayment method, we and the EU currently see such risks. For that reason, work is now underway on getting Ukraine to prepay for future gas shipments as soon as possible,” Novak added.
