Russia is preventing the deployment of United Nations peacekeeping forces in Ukraine, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsia has said.

“With all responsibility I must say that namely, the Russia Federation makes everything it can so that the Ukrainian leadership’s request for the deployment of UN peacekeepers in Ukraine, under the parliament’s permission, is not satisfied. Moreover, I with all my responsibility, say that the Russian Federation does all possible for even the working connection between New York and OSCE Special Monitoring to not be established, an initiative of UN Secretary General was frustrated by Russia to set up a special UN office, which could help the SMM OSCE to fulfill its mandate duties and to implement the Minsk agreements,” Kyslytsia said at an international conference in Kyiv on July 1.
