Moscow - The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into an incident in which a group of investigators in Rostov region was fired upon from Ukrainian territory, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Saturday, July 5.

“The Investigative Committee agencies for the Southern Federal District have opened a criminal case into the shelling of a [Russian] investigative team by unidentified individuals from the Ukrainian territory, a crime covered by Russian Criminal Code Article 317 (attempt on the life of a law enforcement official),” Markin said.
