The Ukrainian military should be prosecuted for war crimes against civilians, Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika said.

“Everything that is now happening in Ukraine is genocide. War crimes
are being committed against civilians, which have already been
recognized by the international human right society,” Chaika said at the
Seliger forum on Aug. 1.

Chaika called on the International Criminal Court to open a criminal case on the basis of war crimes in Ukraine.

“The Ukrainian military are using prohibited weapons against
civilians. Representatives of the international human rights
organization Human Rights Watch have confirmed that,” he said.

On Friday, Chaika met with participants in the young people’s Seliger
forum held in the Tver region and answered their questions, including
on vital international issues.
