You're reading: Russia ready to enable IAEA to inspect nuclear sites in Crimea

Russia is ready to authorize the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect nuclear facilities on its new territories, i.e. the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“In case of the IAEA’s interest to apply safeguards to the nuclear facilities on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, we are ready to fully enable the Agency to pursue the relevant inspection activities on them,” the ministry said in commenting on the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry remarks regarding legal status of the nuclear facilities in Crimea and Sevastopol.
