Moscow - Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor Director Sergei Dankvert believes the ban on the supply of milk and dairy products from Ukraine should be followed by a ban on the import of confectionary products manufactured using dry and condensed milk and cream.

“We have now banned the supply of dry milk, whey and other hazardous milk products. It is unclear why we continue importing sweets and other confectionary products that are manufactured using these products,” Dankvert told Interfax.

According to earlier reports, Russia banned the supply of milk and dairy products from Ukraine beginning on July 28 over the presence of tetracycline group antibiotics and other substances in them. This ban applies to cheese and so-called milk-containing products, in which milk fat is replaced with plant fat.
