You're reading: Russia steps up intelligence activity near Azov coast

The administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine has reported that Russia is stepping up intelligence activity near the Azov coast.

“The Russian side is conducting intelligence activity near the coast of the Azov Sea and conducting provocative actions,” the service’s press office reported on Aug. 20.

The report says that at 11:30 on Aug. 19, a group of motorboats of the coast guard of the State Border Service of Ukraine detected near the village of Sedove three Mangust boats of the coast guard of the Russian FSB Border Service, which were sailing in the direction of Mariupol. After being given a warning, the boats switched to the recommended course.

Border guards have also recorded the work of Russian drones on sections of the Donetsk and Kherson coast.

The State Border Service also reported that from 11:50 on Aug. 19 shells were fired from the vicinity of the village of Seleznyovo in Russia in the direction of the village of Amvrosiyivka in Donetsk region.
