Brussels - Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission are planning to discuss the so-called "summer gas package" at talks on March 2, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told journalists.

“We discussed the agenda for upcoming trilateral consultations. The agenda for the future consultations above all concerns carrying out the ‘winter package.’ Four months have passed since a binding trilateral protocol was signed, which is why certain results can be discussed. We’re also going to talk about the possibility of signing a ‘summer package,’ though we are going to discuss this in more detail today at trilateral talks,” he said after meeting with the vice president of the European Commission for energy, Maros Sefcovic, ahead of trilateral talks with Ukraine.

Novak added that more attention was paid to issues in bilateral relations between Russia and the EU, as well as resuming the work of the EU-Russia Energy Dialogue. Because of this, he said, a high-profile EC official will visit Russia.

“There is an overall understanding that it’s necessary to resume [the work of] the Energy Dialogue and move on to concrete projects that are being discussed,” Novak noted.
