You're reading: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister: US sanctions will not remain unanswered

The U.S. sanctions against Russia will not remain unanswered and the response will be painful for Washington, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

“We will respond, of course. We have never been concealing that we
have capabilities for such a response at our disposal, as well as a set
of measures, which is rather large, that will be used,” he told Interfax
on Monday in remarks about White House Spokesman Jay Carney’s statement
on the introduction of sanctions against Russia.

“We are convinced that this response will be painful for Washington.
No one has the right to use the language of sanctions in dealings with
Russia. Attempts to dictate anything to us, or advance ultimatums will
boomerang,” Ryabkov said.
