You're reading: Russian Energy Ministry: Ukraine restores power supply to Crimea

Ukraine has restored power supply to Crimea disrupted in the early hours of Sept. 1, the Russian Energy Ministry press service reports.

Power supply to Crimea was cut off for several hours because of a failure in the Ukrainian electric power grids. The ministry said mobile generators were working in Crimea in that period.

Ukraine fully restored power supply to the peninsula already at 1345 Moscow time, the ministry stressed. Mobile generators were turned off and put on hold at 1400. Ukraine supplied 402 megawatts of electric power amid the consumption of 476 megawatts. Local generation provided 78 megawatts to compensate for the deficit.

As reported earlier, Crimean populated localities had a partial blackout for several hours on Sunday after a sudden drop in power supply from Ukraine. Crimean residents told Interfax power outages happened in four biggest cities of the peninsula, Simferopol, Sevastopol, Kerch and Yevpatoria. Power supply was also briefly disrupted in certain districts of Sudak, Feodosia, Saky, the towns of Koktebel and Novy Svit and several villages in the Simferopol and Bakhchisarai districts.
