You're reading: Russian Foreign Ministry: Lavrov, Steinmeier discuss further steps assisting start of nationwide dialogue in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier have discussed the Ukrainian issue of developing talks during a four-party meeting in Berlin on Aug. 17 by telephone.

“The ministers continued discussing the situation in Ukraine, having paid special attention to practical aspects of achieving a quick resolution of issues related to the passing of the Russian humanitarian convoy, which was formed in association with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Ukrainian authorities, to south-eastern Ukraine,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

“Further joint steps on agreeing measures to assist in reaching a stable ceasefire and the start of a nationwide dialogue in Ukraine to develop the talks held during the meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Germany, France, and Ukraine in Berlin on August 17, 2014, have been discussed as well,” the document said.
