You're reading: Russian Foreign Ministry says preparations for key humanitarian action for eastern Ukraine completed

Moscow has done everything to guarantee the full security of the humanitarian convoy to residents of eastern Ukraine and favors a swift beginning to the mission, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.

This was stated during Wednesday Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov’s telephone conversations with International Committee of the Red Cross Head of Operations for Europe and Central Asia Laurent Corbaz.

“The practical and detailed discussion of issues related to the organization of the urgent delivery of Russian humanitarian aid to areas in south-eastern Ukraine suffering from hostilities has continued,” a newsletter posted on the ministry’s website on Wednesday, Aug. 20 says.

“The Russian side stressed that all preparatory work required for conducting this key humanitarian action has been completed. We are appealing for its speedy beginning. The Russian side has done everything possible to guarantee the full security of the advancement of the humanitarian convoy and the subsequent prompt distribution of the aid among the needy,” the newsletter says.
