The Russian government has decreed that applications from Ukrainian refugees for temporary asylum to be granted in Russia must be considered in a fast-track procedure.

“In the event of a direct application by Ukrainian nationals and stateless residents, who have arrived in Russia in search of asylum (hereinafter, “persons”), such applications for temporary asylum in the Russian Federation should be examined in a fast-track procedure,” according to a Russian governmental decree posted on the Cabinet’s website on July 22.

The government has approved the Provisional Rules for a fast-track procedure for granting temporary asylum to Ukrainians.
