You're reading: Russian media journalist Aksyonov released

Russia-backed insurgents have said that the Ukrainian military have released the Anna News Agency journalist Vadim Aksyonov, who was captured two days ago but the RT stringer Graham Phillips and two cameramen allegedly remain in the hands of their captors.

“The Anna News Agency correspondent was released only because he was
not found in possession of any papers or devices attesting to his
journalistic activity, but he did get beaten,” head of the South-Eastern
Front information center Kostiantyn Knyryk said on July 24.

Aksyonov sustained multiple bruises and scratches, “but his emotional
state is normal,” he said. “Apparently he was beaten while in
captivity,” he said.

As for the RT stringer Phillips and his crew, so far they remain in the hands of the Ukrainian military, Knyryk added.
