You're reading: Russian patriarch kneels to pray for peace in Ukraine

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia kneeled to pray for Ukraine at St. Michael's Church in Troparyovo, Moscow, on Sunday. 

The Russian patriarch said a prayer in front of the altar for the beleaguered people of Ukraine, and another prayer for those killed in the confrontation.

Prayers for an end to Ukraine’s conflict and for those killed in the unrest were being said, and Patriarch Kirill’s appeal in connection with the disturbances in Ukraine were being read out at all of the Moscow Patriarchate’s churches on Sunday.
