The presidents of Russia and Ukraine have agreed to step up interregional cooperation.

"We have agreed to significantly strengthen our interregional cooperation and cross-border trade," Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev after a meeting of the Ukrainian-Russian interstate commission in Kyiv on Monday.

"This issue is also linked to the simplification of procedures for crossing our borders and customs checkpoints, and, of course, the question of migration policy so that this policy is not humiliating to citizens who work in Ukraine and Russia," Yanukovych said.
