You're reading: Rybak: Ukraine satisfied with cooperation with US energy companies

Cooperation in the energy area is one of the most important directions of Ukrainian-U.S. cooperation, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Rybak has said.

“We’re satisfied with the active position of leading U.S. energy companies Chevron and ExxonMobil, with which we plan to sign production sharing agreements as a part of projects on the extraction of shale gas in Ukraine and the extraction of fossil fuel on the Ukrainian shelf of the Black Sea,” he said at a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt on Monday, the press service of the Ukrainian parliament has reported.

Rybak said the actual place occupied by the United States among the trade partners of Ukraine does not reflect the realistic potential of cooperation between the two countries.

“Last year bilateral trade came to over $5 billion. We hope that next years the indicator will grow,” he said.

Rybak also pointed at cooperation in the space area, in particular, the launch of the Antares rocket, the first stage of which is made by Ukraine’s Pivdenmash and Pivdenne Design Bureau.
