You're reading: Savchenko denied jury trial, holding proceedings in Moscow

MOSCOW - Defense of Ukrainian citizen Nadia Savchenko, accused under the case on murdering Russian reporters, has been denied all petitions, Savchenko's lawyer Nikolai Polozov told Interfax on July 6.

“I called the Investigative Committee. All petitions of Nadia Savchenko were dismissed and the case was transferred to the prosecutor’s office,” the attorney said.

Investigators’ refusals were sent to lawyers my mail, he said.

Savchenko’s lawyers petitioned earlier to close the criminal case over lack of element of a crime, hold the proceedings in Moscow, have jury trial and exclude some evidence and questioning of several witnesses.

The probe regarding Savchenko has been completed and the case has been sent to the prosecutor’s office, the Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on July 6.
