You're reading: SBU chief: ‘Anti-terrorist operation’ in Ukraine was led by Yanukovych

Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko has said that an anti-terrorist operation announced by the former leadership of the country in February 2014 was in fact the organization of mass killings of people during protests in central Kyiv, and that SBU places all the blame for what was happening onto then President Viktor Yanukovych.

“The planned anti-terrorist operation, and in fact the organization of
mass killings of people, was directly led by former President
Yanukovych,” he said on Thursday at a press conference on the
preliminary results of investigations into the mass killings in the
center of Kyiv on February 18-20.
