You're reading: SBU confirms two Ukraine Armed Forces helicopters shot down near Sloviansk

A combat helicopter owned by the Ukrainian Armed Forces was shot down by a missile launched from a portable air defense missile system outside of Sloviansk on May 2, the Antiterrorist Center of Ukraine's Security Service has confirmed.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry, for its part, has reported that 2 Mil Mi-24 helicopters belonging to Ukraine’s Armed Forces were shot down near Sloviansk early on May 2 morning.

“2 Mi-24 helicopters of Ukraine’s Armed Forces were shot down with the help of a portable air defense missile complex near Sloviansk last night,” he said.

The number of possible casualties and injuries is being verified, the ministry said.

Different reports say that at least one helicopter pilot was killed and several people were injured.
