You're reading: SBU: LifeNews reporters expelled from Ukraine

LifeNews journalists Oleg Sidyakin and Marat Saichenko have been expelled from Ukraine and will be denied entry from now on, deputy head of Ukraine's Security Service Viktor Yahun said.

“They confessed that they had arrived in Ukraine as private
individual to watch a concert, not as journalists. Irrefutable evidence
of their assistance to terrorists has been gathered,” he said at a press
briefing on Sunday.

“Representatives of the UN and the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe turned to us and to the Ukrainian leaders. We
responded to requests we received from these particular organizations.
The journalists were expelled from Ukraine and they were banned from
re-entering the country,” Yahun said.

“If they attempt to enter Ukraine again in violation of the Ukrainian
legislation, this act will be on their conscience,” he said.

Chechen head Ramzan Kadyrov said early on Sunday that both had been freed. They initially arrived in Grozny and then flew to Moscow, where they gave a press conference.
