You're reading: SBU says over ten Right Sector members surrounded in Zakarpattia region

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has said that law enforcers in Zakarpattia region have surrounded more than ten fighters from Right Sector.

“We cannot tell the exact figure right now, the situation is not fully clear, but I think there are more than ten of them,” SBU spokeswoman Olena Hitlianska said at a briefing on July 14.

One can say that all of the surrounded Right Sector members are local residents, she said.

It was reported earlier that a shootout involving people close to parliament deputy Mykhailo Lanio, local police officers and members of Right Sector took place in Mukacheve in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region on July 11. According to various information sources, up to four people were killed and up to 14 were wounded in the exchange of fire.

According to Interior Ministry information, over 10 Right Sector fighters are hiding in a forest in the vicinity of Mukacheve, two were detained and two have been taken to hospital.
