The threat of terrorist attacks in Ukraine during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship is minimal, Head of the Antiterrorist Center at the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and SBU First Deputy Head Petro Shatkovsky has said. "Today the threat of terrorist attacks is minimal," he told journalists in Kyiv on April 17 at the presentation of the headquarters for ensuring international cooperation and coordinating security measures on the preparations for and holding of Euro 2012.

Shatkovsky said that there were certain risks of a terrorist threat, and the SBU is assessing them together with its foreign colleagues.

"The main task for the service is to prevent possible extremist or even, God forbid, instances of terrorism," he said.

Shatkovsky noted the high professionalism of his colleagues involved in efforts to ensure security during Euro 2012. He said that Ukrainian special services are preparing for any possible challenges.
