Dushanbe - The delegations attending a meeting of foreign ministers from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on Thursday, July 31 have reaffirmed the importance of conducting an impartial and independent investigation into the July 17 crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine.

“The delegation heads extended their profound condolences to the
families and friends of the people who died when the Malaysia Airlines
passenger airplane crashed in the territory of Ukraine on July 17,
2014,” according to a statement adopted after the meeting.

“They reiterated the need for a transparent, impartial and
independent investigation and comprehensive cooperation as part of
efforts to establish the reasons behind this tragedy, as it is required
by the UN Security Council’s Resolution 2166,” the document says.
