You're reading: Second stage of lustration begins in Ukraine

The second stage of lustration, which begins on Nov. 10, will affect ministers and the heads of the central bodies of the Ukrainian executive administration, as well as the top officials of the Justice Ministry, the prosecutor's offices, and the Ukrainian Security Service, Ukrainian Deputy Justice Minister Ihor Alekseyev said.

“According to the schedule approved by the government, the second stage of lustration will affect the Justice Ministry, its entire administration, the fiscal service, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the central administration of the Security Service, and all ministers and heads of the central executive administrations,” he told a press conference in Kyiv on Monday, Nov. 10.

Ukrainian Minister Ostap Semerak told the press conference that the second stage of lustration will affect 36 top officials of the central bodies of the executive administration.

The minister also said the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers has also been subjected to lustration.

The first stage of lustration began on Nov. 1.

The law on lustration took effect on Oct. 16.
